Cafe/ Queens, NY/ MESH Architectures
Located in Chinatown Flushing, Presso is the American Flagship of an already established East Asian cafe company. In addition to a focus on artisanal coffee and freshly made dessert, the 2,700 sq.ft. space acts as a cultural center offering performances, demonstrations and a gallery. The space is designed in two tiers with a lower level for commuters to be served quickly with versatile bleacher seating and standing counters. The upper level is centralized around an open kitchen island where food is interactively prepared and immediately served. Designed while a Project Manager at MESH Architectures, there is a dynamic interaction of materials throughout the space. Islands of activity are constructed with sustainable bamboo materials and warm LED Lighting while sandwiched in an industrial raw concrete floor and open ceiling slab.
